In Summer 2014 Adelphi started its first cohort in the new accelerated M.A. in Educational Technology. The program prepares graduates to teach, design, develop, and produce powerful learning experiences enhanced by the latest digital technologies. Adelphi’s Manhattan Center, located on the border of Tribeca and Soho, serves as the hub which connects this program to New York’s diverse and vibrant technology community.
The accelerated M.A. is a 14 month, 12 course blended Masters degree that combines intensive in-person summer, weekend, and winter courses with online courses during the Fall and Spring semesters. Summer 1 requires a New York City residency for our
technology institute — hands-on technology lab and studio courses. In Summer 2 all candidates complete a field based practicum, either working in the New York City public school system, or by completing a team-based project with an external partner.
Some graduates choose the New York State Educational Technology Specialist track, which leads to a K-12 teaching certificate. To qualify for this Track, candidates must already hold a valid NYS teaching certificate (any area). Others prepare for careers in corporations, higher education, public institutions, or non-profits. They work as learning technology designers and producers, researchers and evaluators of educational technology, policy advisors, or learning science specialists.
